In a freestyle wrestling match, Khamzat Chimaev, a feared UFC star, was taken the distance by title contender Jack Hermansson.
In a freestyle wrestling match, UFC phenom Khamzat Chimaev went the distance before being congratulated by a fan who broke into the cage.
In Sweden, where he trains, the Chechen-born star fought Jack Hermansson in a middleweight bout.
Chimaev demolished Li Jingliang at UFC 267, and the two headlined Bulldog Fight Night 9 in Gothenburg less than three weeks later.
Recent opponents have been flattened by the 27-year-old star, and his last three fights have all ended in a round.
But in Hermansson, he finally found a competitor capable of taking him all the way despite the fact that no striking was permitted.
The Norwegian was still unable to win as he was outscored 8-0 by Chimaev in a tense first round.
The winner was then congratulated by a fan who broke into the cage to celebrate the victory.
Chimaev debuted in the UFC in July of last year and has quickly established himself as one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet.
He’s quickly establishing a reputation as a risk-taker.
UFC fans have been salivating over the prospect of a Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz fight.
Dana White, the fight’s promoter, has stated that he is interested in taking part, though Diaz appears to have other plans.
And YouTuber-turned-boxer brothers Jake and Logan Paul have been singled out by Chimaev, who posted a bizarre photo of their heads on his wall.
