Joey Bosa Update From Brandon Staley

Joey Bosa, the Los Angeles Chargers’ star edge rusher, and defensive tackle Jerry Tillery were both placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday.

Tillery, who had been vaccinated, was said to have tested positive for the virus.

As a close contact, Bosa, who is unvaccinated, was placed under COVID-19 protocols.

According to NFL Network insider Taylor Bisciotti, Chargers head coach Brandon Staley revealed on Wednesday that Bosa tested negative for the virus and could still play on Sunday.

Players who have not been vaccinated and are considered close contacts must be quarantined for five days.

Bosa’s isolation period will begin with Tillery’s positive test on Tuesday and end just in time for game day.

Through nine games this season, three-time Pro Bowler Bosa has 5.5 sacks and 11 QB hits.

With 3.0 strip-sacks, he is tied for first in the league.

In LA’s last four games, the sixth-year veteran has three sacks.

At 8:20 p.m., the Chargers (5-4) will face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sunday night at 8:00 p.m. ET.
