Kirk Herbstreit Makes a Brilliant Remark About Cincinnati’s Playoff Chances

The College Football Playoff committee released their latest top 25 after Week 11 of college football action on Tuesday night.

There was little movement at the top, as the first seven teams remained unchanged heading into the weekend.

This includes the number one.

5 Cincinnati, which defeated South Florida in a close game.

Despite going undefeated and improving to 10-0 on the season, the Bearcats may be in jeopardy.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit said Tuesday night that the Bearcats aren’t a lock to finish in the top four, even if a team ahead of them falters.

“Because they’re at five, Cincinnati isn’t a lock or a foregone conclusion.”

“It’s not a given that if a team gets ahead of them, they’ll finish in the top four,” Herbstreit said.

The Cincinnati Reds are currently in a difficult situation with the playoff committee.

Because the Bearcats do not have another game against a ranked opponent scheduled, they will not be able to add to their resume.

The team’s best chance of making the playoffs is for the Big Ten and Pac-12 conferences to cannibalize each other and produce a two-loss conference champion.

If this occurs, the Bearcats may have a chance to make the playoffs.

However, if Ohio State and Oregon win, Cincinnati’s chances of finishing in the top four are slim.

Do the Bearcats have a legitimate claim to one of the top four spots?
