Lane Kiffin Is Supposed To Be A “Top Candidate” For A Key Position

There’s no reason for Lane Kiffin to leave Ole Miss right now, but he should have options if he wants to transfer.

Former Miami Hurricanes booster Nevin Shapiro was recently contacted by Yahoo Sports reporter Dan Wentzel for his thoughts on the program’s future.

With Manny Diaz on the hot seat, the Hurricanes are expected to make a major offseason move.

Kiffin, according to Shapiro, is the frontrunner to be the Hurricanes’ next head coach.

On the “College Football Enquirer” podcast, Wetzel discussed his conversation with Shapiro.

“I texted Nevin Shapiro, my best Miami source, or certainly the most interesting Miami source,” Wetzel told the Clarion Ledger.

“Nevin claims that Lane Kiffin is the best candidate, with Randy Shannon as the defensive coordinator.”

Kiffin would be a headline-grabbing hire for the Hurricanes, but there’s no indication that he’s ready to leave the Rebels just yet.

Kiffin, on the other hand, according to Sports Illustrated senior writer Pat Forde, should consider transferring from the SEC to the ACC.

“OK, where do I fit in if everyone in my division is playing at their best?” you might ask in the SEC West or the ACC Coastal.

Forde joked, “Hah, go to Miami, baby.”

“If everybody is rolling in the SEC West, you’re the fourth-best team, maybe fifth, probably fifth.”
