Liverpool FC condemned the behaviour of fans who ignored coronavirus social distance guidance during the celebration of the club’s first Premier League title in three decades on Saturday.
Social media images and videos showed thousands of Reds supporters gathering on the Pier Head in the city center for the second night in a row.
“Our city is still in a public health crisis and this behaviour is wholly unacceptable,” the club said in a joint statement with Liverpool City Council and Merseyside Police.
“The potential danger of a second peak of COVID-19 still exists and we need to work together to make sure we don’t undo everything that has been achieved as a region during lockdown.”
“When it is safe to do so, we will all work together to arrange a victory parade when everyone can come together to celebrate.”
Liverpool, who now have 19 league titles, were crowned Premier League champions following Manchester City’s 2-1 loss at Chelsea on Thursday.
