Man Utd star Jesse Lingard wanted by Championship side West Brom in summer transfer as West Ham also eye move

WEST BROM are plotting an ambitious move to bring Jesse Lingard to the Hawthorns.

The 27-year-old midfielder is finding match action hard to come by at Manchester United this season.

West Ham are believed to be weighing up a double swoop for him and fellow England international Phil Jones from the Red Devils.

And Leicester City, Newcastle and Everton have also been linked with Lingard.

Now The Independent claim promotion-chasing West Brom are ready to fight it out for the star’s signature if they secure a Premier League return.

Slaven Bilic’s side moved back into top spot in the Championship, and five points clear in the promotion race, after easing to a 2-0 win over Derby last night.

And with just four games left to play, it appears the Croatian has already identified Lingard as one of his top transfer targets.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add to his squad in the upcoming window and is keen on both Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

And those potential big-money moves could pave the way for him to offload some fringe members of his squad to raise funds for his transfer kitty.

Lingard only has a year remaining on his contract and United may decide to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.

And the player himself is believed to be open to a departure from his boyhood club in order to get regular football.

He has not started in the top-flight since New Year’s Day and has made just 20 appearances in all competitions this campaign.

Lingard has also failed to score or register an assist in that period but his big-match experience could prove a real coup for Bilic’s Baggies.
