Manchester City teenage striker Noah Ohio closes in on switch to Bundesligsa side RB Leipzig

Manchester City teenage striker Noah Ohio is close to agreeing a deal with RB Leipzig.

The prolific 16-year old has rejected the offer of a contract from City and is ready to follow the trend of trying his luck in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund had also shown interest in Ohio who joined City from Manchester United in 2016. He has been capped at U16 level by England and Holland.

English academy youngsters are increasingly looking to forge their careers overseas amid tough competition in domestic academies.

Jonjoe Kenny recently joined Schalke on loan from Everton, while West Ham’s Reece Oxford (Borussia Monchengladbach and Augsburg) and Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson (Hoffenheim) have also spent time in the Budesliga.

Ohio will be following in the footsteps of other young talents choosing to leave the Etihad for Germany.

Rabbi Matondo jumped ship for Schalke last January, while Jadon Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund as a 17-year-old back in 2017
