Matt Rhule, the Panthers’ head coach, has named a new starter for Sunday’s game.

PJ Walker will not start this Sunday against the Washington Football Team, despite leading the Carolina Panthers to victory last Sunday.

Instead, Panthers coach Matt Rhule is handing Cam Newton the reins of his offense.

Newton will start for the Panthers for the first time since the 2019 season.

During his press conference on Friday, Rhule revealed the quarterback switch.

In the Panthers’ win over the Cardinals last weekend, Newton played only a few snaps.

He had eight passing yards, 14 rushing yards, and two total touchdowns at the end of the game.

It’ll be interesting to see how Newton handles a full workload on Sunday, especially since this isn’t the same system he used in Carolina before.

When Newton’s name is announced at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday, the crowd should give him a standing ovation.

After all, the former MVP recently announced that he’ll be giving away 50 tickets to the game to give the Panthers a legitimate home-field advantage.

“I’m going to give away 50 tickets to people who have never or rarely attended a game,” Newton said.

“I’m doing this with the Panthers.”

This Sunday, I am adamant, is crucial for us.

Bank of America Stadium should be reclaimed.

I understand the lack of success, but we’re not talking about the past.

I’m referring to the future of the situation here.”

This Sunday, we’ll see if Newton can lead Carolina to a victory over Washington.

It would be his first win since the 2020 season if he succeeds.
