Gary Neville thinks Man Utd still need to bring in three players before the transfer window shuts after signing Donny van de Beek.
Van de Beek became United’s first signing of the summer after joining from Ajax for around £40m.
The Dutchman will be the 20th Van man in Premier League history and joins an already strong midfield at Old Trafford, which both he and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer referenced upon his arrival.

However, Neville doesn’t want to see Man Utd resting on their laurels with the former defender believing the club needs to bring in three more players in this transfer window if they are to improve their chances of a first Premier League title since the Fergie era.
If you are using the app from William Hill app, you can find United at 14/1 for the title, but their odds of 4/9 for a top four finish will raise the spirits a little.
Speaking to the Webby and O’Neill YouTube channel, Neville said: “I think the left-back area is important because Luke [Shaw] has had injury problems.
“I think centre-back is critical and I do think at least one forward is important. I still think we need three or four signings.
“I’ve got a feeling they [the Manchester United board]are on it and are just not getting them over the line quite as quickly as they’d want.
“But they’re not panicking and they’re still in control I think. They’re not reacting to the market like they were a few years ago, they’re in control.
“The signings are better, they’re a better age-profile and look like they will be at the club for a long time rather than a season or two. I’m positive generally about United, but getting those players over the line is critical.”
Meanwhile, surviving Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson cannot understand the logic of Man Utd bringing in Van de Beek this summer.
“Donny van de Beek looks like a panic buy at Manchester United,” Merson said.
“I don’t get it. They just spent £40m on a position where they are already strong. And how does he play with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes? You have to have someone who can play the holding role.”
“That signing looked to me like: ‘Oh we haven’t bought anyone yet, let’s go and buy someone, who can we get?’ When you look at their midfield, Fred was improving, and they’ve got Scott McTominay. Now they won’t get a game.
“And they just gave Nemanja Matic a new contract. Would they have done that if they knew they were getting Van de Beek? It makes no sense to me. Who is making these decisions?
“It’s like them going for Jadon Sancho. If they sign Sancho, Greenwood doesn’t play. For me they need another centre back.”
