PAUL POGBA has hinted he is staying at Manchester United as he relishes qualifying for the Champions League.
The Real Madrid target has transformed his fortunes post-lockdown, with SunSport exclusively revealing ten days ago he is close to agreeing a new five-year contract.
And after a 2-0 win at Leicester secured third spot, the French World Cup winner posted jubilantly: “Let’s gooooooo Champions League baby.”
Pogba, 27, has bounced back from injuries to unite well with £55million January signing Bruno Fernandes in central midfield.
Meanwhile, interest from Real and especially old club Juventus appears to have cooled as the coronavirus crisis hits clubs’ finances.
And Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was delighted with Pogba’s consistent contribution to United’s storming finish to the Premier League season.
Playing deeper than usual, he has even won round many of his critics in the media.
And now the transfer talk around Old Trafford is mainly whether Solskjaer will land a new centre-back and England attacker Jadon Sancho – rather than boost his midfield.
Nonetheless, Pogba has still largely been in Fernandes’ shadow as he works his way back to full sharpness.
United legend and Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane suggested last week: “I think he’s done okay.
“I wouldn’t get carried away with what Pogba’s done over the last two months.
“We’ve said it before, he is a talented boy but you need a bit more than that. Big, strong boy, he’s got a goal in him, he’s got a pass.
“Pogba’s got qualities but he doesn’t do enough week in, week out.”
