PSG have offered Matthijs de Ligt a deal worth more than £200,000 a week as they attempt to beat Barcelona to the signing of one of Europe’s hottest prospects.
Sportsmail reported on Wednesday that De Ligt’s agent, Mino Raiola, had held more talks with PSG’s sporting director, Antero Henrique, in Paris this week.
Ajax want £66.5million for De Ligt, who is leaning towards a move to France, with the transfer fee proving no problem for the big-spending Ligue 1 champions.
It has now emerged that PSG are also willing to lure the 19-year-old with a huge contract as they look to inflict a blow to Barca’s summer transfer plans.
ESPN claim that De Ligt has been offered around £11m a year across five seasons (£211,000 a week), making the entire deal worth a whopping £55m.
The Ajax captain is one of the most sought after players this summer with a host of clubs across Europe – including Manchester United and Juventus – battling to secure his signature following a fine campaign.
De Ligt played a starring role as the club won the Eredivisie title and also reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
He has made over 100 appearances for Ajax, where his current contract runs until the summer of 2021.
Any move for De Ligt would appear to open the door for PSG to let Marquinhos depart, with Juve among the clubs interested in the Brazilian.
Reports in Italy suggest the former Roma star, who played 44 times in all competitions for last season and scored four goals, would be sold for £53m.
De Ligt’s move, meanwhile, is set to be one of the biggest of the summer window, following his breakthrough season in Holland.
