Sheffield United aim to pull off massive coup in signing Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery

Sheffield United are aiming to pull off a huge transfer coup with the addition of Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery.

The Frenchman is a free agent after saying an emotional farewell to the Bavarian club at the end of last season.

And the Blades are interested in bringing the 36-year-old to Brammall Lane, according to Kicker

The aim for this season will be to ensure Premier League survival.

As ever for a newly-promoted team, finding goals in the top flight could be a tough ask. But Ribery may be the answer for Chris Wilder.

He spent 12 seasons with Bayern and would bring a superb mentality to the club having won 22 titles.

United returned to the big time for the first time in 12 years as they finished second in the Championship last year.

Signing Ribery would be a major statement of intent and would bring some star quality to the squad.
