Slaven Bilic is set to return to management at West Bromwich Albion.
The former West Ham and Croatia manager boss, 50, has agreed a three-year deal.
The Championship club conducted an exhaustive process for a new manager and held two rounds of talks with Bilic.
The Hawthorns hierarchy considered Chris Hughton but it is believed he may want a break after leaving Brighton.
Former Wolfsburg manager Bruno Labbadia was also interviewed following the decision not to appoint stand-in boss Jimmy Shan on a permanent basis.
Bilic last worked in England at West Ham between 2015 and 2017, before leaving Saudi side Al-Ittihad in February.
