The Chiefs’ coach is candid about Patrick Mahomes’ expectations.

In every other game, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy expects quarterback Patrick Mahomes to perform the same way he did against the Raiders last Sunday.

Bieniemy spoke to the media on Thursday ahead of the team’s game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and he confirmed that he has high confidence in his quarterback.

“I go into every game knowing how Patrick is doing and how he’s feeling every week.”

So there was nothing different that made me think he’d have the game he did,” Bieniemy said during his press conference.

“Not to be arrogant, but we expect a lot of those kinds of performances from him.”

But, as you may be aware, you can sometimes catch the bear and sometimes the bear can catch you.

As a result, it was fortunate that he played well.

I thought the offensive line did a great job keeping the pocket clean for him, and you had some guys make some plays on the perimeter, which was encouraging to see.”

Last Sunday night, Mahomes threw for 406 yards and five touchdowns against the Vegas Golden Knights.

It was a huge step forward for him, as he had been struggling for the previous four weeks.

Mahomes only had four touchdowns and four interceptions in those games.

Mahomes now has 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes after this game.

At 4:25 p.m., he’ll try to capitalize on that monstrous performance.

This Sunday at 5:00 p.m. ET
