The College Basketball World Reacts To Jim Calhoun’s Newfound Fame

Jim Calhoun, the legendary former head coach of UConn and three-time national champion, has decided on his future.

After 26 seasons as the head coach at UConn, Calhoun stepped down in 2012.

He took on the challenge of coaching at the University of Saint Joseph five years later.

Since then, he’s been there.

However, on Thursday afternoon, the 79-year-old announced his immediate retirement from his position as head coach at Saint Joseph’s.

Calhoun’s decision was announced with the following statement:

Calhoun said in a school press release, “It’s just the right time.”

“I’m in good health, my wife (Pat) is in good health, and the men’s basketball team at USJ is in good shape.”

We started from the ground up with this program about five years ago, and the team is now in a good place.

We’ve got a fantastic new facility and have had a lot of success on the court in recent seasons.

I intend to remain involved with the university, but there are many things I’d like to do, and it’s time for me to spend more time with my wife and family.”

Jim Calhoun’s absence from college basketball is surprising.

He’s regarded as one of the best coaches in the history of the sport.

Take a look at what people are saying about Calhoun’s decision in college basketball.

Saint Joseph’s will be led by interim head coach Glen Miller for the remainder of the season after Jim Calhoun stepped down.

Coach Calhoun, enjoy your retirement.
