On Thursday, the Lions received some discouraging news about Jared Goff.

Last Sunday, the Detroit Lions drew a tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it came at a cost.

During Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh, Jared Goff suffered an oblique injury.

It’s unclear if he’ll be able to play this weekend against the Browns.

Goff did not practice with the Lions on Thursday, putting his Sunday availability in doubt.

Meanwhile, backup Tim Boyle received all first-team reps.

Boyle will start for the Detroit Lions if Goff is unable to do so against Cleveland.

“Jared Goff has yet to practice with the Detroit Lions,” NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports.

“He didn’t practice yesterday or today,” says the coach.

He has a minor oblique injury.

They haven’t ruled him out, but he doesn’t appear to be able to make it out on Sunday.”

In the middle of the Steelers-Lions game last Sunday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was aware of Jared Goff’s oblique injury.

He ultimately decided to keep Goff on the field because he was still capable of running the offense.

“I would have (taken him out) if I didn’t think he could function,” Campbell said, according to the Detroit Free Press.

“However, I wasn’t feeling that way yesterday.”

The Lions got some bad news about Jared Goff on Thursday.
