The NFL Community Reacts to the Eagles’ and Dallas Goedert’s News

The Philadelphia Eagles and fourth-year tight end Dallas Goedert have agreed to a major contract extension.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the contract is worth (dollar)57 million, with (dollar)35 million guaranteed, making him the third highest-paid tight end in the league behind George Kittle and Travis Kelce, with an average annual salary of (dollar)14.25 million.

Goedert was set to become a free agent after this season, so this deal effectively re-signs him for the Eagles.

He’s now committed through the 2025 season.

The NFL community reacted to the big-money contract news on Twitter.

Goedert has 29 catches for 429 yards and two touchdowns through nine games this season, which ranks him eighth among NFL tight ends in receiving yards.

He’s Philadelphia’s second-leading receiver, trailing only first-round rookie DeVonta Smith.

While paying Goedert the third highest salary in the league may appear to be excessive, the 26-year-old tight end is expected to improve his production now that he is the Eagles’ primary tight end target.

Earlier this season, Goedert and veteran tight end Zach Ertz were splitting targets.

However, now that Ertz has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals, he can spread his wings as the lone tight end option.

Goedert will try to prove his worth against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, now that he has some new money in his pocket.
