The Ravens have made a decision on Lamar Jackson, as reported by the Baltimore Sun.

Lamar Jackson, the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, had hoped to play on Sunday, but it appears that will not be the case.

Jackson is “not doing well enough to play” against the Chicago Bears, according to NFL insider Josina Anderson.

After Anderson’s tweet, ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed Jackson’s retirement.

Tyler Huntley, the backup, will get the start.

Jackson has been sick for the past week and hasn’t been able to recover in time to participate in any activities.

He was unable to practice on Wednesday and Thursday, only to return on Friday.

The illness’s cause is unknown, but it is not COVID-related.

This is a huge setback for Baltimore, as Jackson is the offense’s go-to guy.

Through nine games, he’d thrown for 2,447 yards and 14 touchdowns against eight interceptions.

He has led the Ravens to a number of comeback victories, including victories over the Lions, Chiefs, Vikings, and Colts.

Baltimore was down by at least two scores in three of those four games, and Jackson was the driving force behind the team’s comeback victories.

The Ravens will be without him for this game as they attempt to improve to 7-3 and maintain their lead in the AFC North.

The game begins at 1 p.m.
