‘The whole world knows that I want to return to Europe’: Yannick Carrasco hands boost to Arsenal

Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of winger Yannick Carrasco as the Belgian admits ‘the whole world knows’ his desire to return to Europe.

The 25-year-old made the switch from Atletico Madrid to Dalian Yifang in China last year but appears ready to call an end to his spell in Asia.

Unai Emery has long admired Carrasco and with the player keen to leave for Europe this summer, it represents a major boost to Arsenal’s hopes of landing him.

‘The whole world knows that I want to return to Europe,’ he said, as reported by the Mirror. ‘Now, it depends on the president and I hope he finds a solution.’

Carrasco was not drawn on specific links to any clubs – namely Arsenal – as he reiterated that his future is in the hands of the Dalian Yifang president.

‘Now I am not the one who chooses, but my president. He decides if he lets me go or not, but I hope I can come back,’ he added.

He is being valued at around £25million and is likely to attract lots of interest in Europe with Bayern Munich chasing wingers this summer as long-serving pair Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery depart.

At 25, Carrasco remains an attractive option with clubs chasing strength in depth in order to compete on multiple fronts.

Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the Champions League could prove costly in negotiations but given the club were interested in acquiring him back in January, they will hope they can get a deal over the line this time round.
