Chris Kamara is set to appear on Emmerdale in a cameo role as a manager of a local team.
The Soccer Saturday pundit has become a cult hero over the years on Sky Sports with his own unique brand of analysis.
Jeff Stelling once asked: ‘There’s been a sending off at Fratton Park, but for who Chris Kamara?’ To which he famously replied: ‘I don’t know Jeff, has there? I must have missed that.’
And with his oft-repeated catchphrase ‘unbelievable Jeff’, fans have grown to love the former Leeds midfielder.
On the soap, which will be aired later in June, he will play the manager of the rival local side taking on Emmerdale’s XI and the 61-year-old relished the role.
‘It was a great day and I loved it! I essentially got to play myself and not a character, but hopefully that’ll be the next thing along the line.
‘I watch Emmerdale with my wife and my son – in fact, my son is a massive Emmerdale fan so if I was coming down, they had to come too.’
Emmerdale producer, Kate Brooks, added: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to have Chris join us for a special cameo in Emmerdale.
‘With Chris’ football expertise, he certainly manages to ruffle a few feathers with our newly formed Woolpack football team.’
