What you need to know
- Samsung has announced the U.S. availability of the Galaxy A71 5G.
- From June 19, buyers will be able to purchase it from T-Mobile, Sprint, and Samsung’s online store.
- The A71 will come to AT&T, Verizon, and unlocked customers later this summer.
Samsung is set to debut the Galaxy A71 5G in the U.S this month. It’s one of the company’s best mid-rangers so far, coming with a large 6.7-inch near bezel-less FHD+ AMOLED display, a 4,5000 mAh battery with fast charging, and a quad-camera set-up (just don’t stress the macro camera too much.) It’s a mid-ranger, so there’s no glass and metal sandwich here, instead, we’re getting what Samsung calls a “glasstic” design. It still looks nice and feels lightweight, it’s just made of faux-glass plastic rather than glass.
Reviewing the Galaxy A71, Android Central’s Harish Jonnalagadda said:
Overall, the Galaxy A71 offers fantastic value for what you end up paying for the phone. The Snapdragon 730 is a powerful mid-range chipset that will deliver a lag-free usage experience for several years, and the design should similarly hold up. You also get excellent battery life with 25W fast charging, One UI 2.0 with Android 10, and that 64MP camera isn’t all that bad either.
Granted, this model isn’t shipping with the Snapdragon 730 but with Samsung’s equivalent Exynos 980, the broader sentiment still holds true. The Exynos 980 has the same broad performance as the 730, the only difference is the inclusion of 5G support. If 5G isn’t a terribly huge draw to you (at least in the short term), you could pick up one of Samsung’s internationally aimed 4G equipped models.
