This is the adorable moment a clever dog fit six tennis balls in his mouth to break a world record.

Finley the six-year-old Golden Retriever from Canandaigua, New York, can pick up the tennis balls with his mouth all by himself.

Footage show the cute pooch as he sits calmly, staring up at the camera as the balls bulge out of his cheeks.

However the achievement is yet to be made official by the Guinness World Records, despite videos being posted online.

Strict paperwork rules means he hasn’t yet met the requirements to have it formally recognised.

His owners Cheri and Rob Molloy from New York have been pushing for the official recognition of Finley’s achievements for the past year.

Their daughter, Erin Molloy, brought him home as a 10-week-old puppy when she was in college.

The family told the Democrat & Chronicle that Finley was about two years old when they first noticed his talent.

Erin remembers looking over one day and seeing him ‘trotting over to me with four tennis balls in his mouth’.

Soon, he was carrying five at once, she explained, before eventually moving on to six.

The ‘official’ world record is held by a fellow golden retriever named Augie, who managed five back in 2003.

Finley’s Instagram page ‘FinnyBoyMolloy’ now has more than 31,500 followers from all over the world and regularly shares updates of the pup’s adventures.
