A woman from North Carolina died on Saturday after accidentally shooting herself in the stomach.
Madison Moore, 28, was inside the Kannapolis branch of Ruby Tuesday when she fired one shot into her abdomen.
Moore, from nearby Landis, close to Charlotte, worked as a third grade teacher at Knollwood Elementary School.
Authorities in neighbouring concord said they are investigating the shooting but that it was an ‘accidental death’.
They added Moore discharged her own gun mistakenly.
Moore was taken to the Atrium Carolinas Medical Center Northeast where she died of her injuries.
The teacher is believed to have owned the gun when it accidentally went off while she was inside the restaurant.
A police statement read: ‘The Concord police department is currently investigating a shooting that took place at the Ruby Tuesday on Spider Drive.
‘The primary investigation indicates that this was an accidental discharge and the person in possession of the weapon was the person who was shot.
‘The scene is secure and there is no further threat to the public.’
