Shooting reclassified to homicide after Chicago man dies 9 years later

Illinois authorities have classified the recent death of a man who was shot multiple times nine years ago as a homicide.

Marco Rainge, 41, was pronounced dead at 1.45am on January 14, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Rainge’s death was the result of complications of gunshot wounds that he suffered in 2010.

The Chicago Police Department said on Monday morning that the original aggravated battery investigation has been changed to a homicide investigation.

No arrests were made at the time of the shooting.

Police said that Rainge did not cooperate with detectives at the time.

Rainge was shot multiple times in the 1200 block of North Kildare Avenue in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood on October 12, 2010, just before 10am.

He suffered injuries to the arm, chest and hip, according to police.

The department said the case remains an open investigation.
